Fans at Mercedes-Benz Stadium saw the completion of a football program that went from 0-12 in 2015 to undefeated in 2017. Central Florida came back from 20-13 in the third quarter to score 21 unanswered points then held on a late push by Auburn to win the Peach Bowl 34-27.

MacKenzie Milton had a great second half to finish with 358 total yards and three touchdowns to lead the Golden Knights to victory. Furthermore, the American Athletic Conference Champion ran different defensive looks to stop Auburn in the tail end of the third quarter and for much of the fourth quarter after Auburn started the second half on a 14-0 run.

Kerryon Johnson was partially responsible for that scoring run in the third quarter, as he ran in for a touchdown to give the Tigers the lead after being down 13-6 at the half. The SEC West Champion had the momentum in the third quarter, but gave it up with a lack of offensive production in three drives which they couldn’t get positive yardage overall.

A key interception by Chequan Burkett that was returned for a touchdown to put UCF ahead 34-20 in the fourth quarter had Auburn switching to a fast pace offense in order to come back. They were able to score to get the deficit to seven, but another interception thrown by Auburn quarterback Jarrett Stidham to Antwan Collier in the end zone sealed the game for UCF.

Scott Frost coached his final game with the Golden Knights as he now becomes a full-time head coach for Nebraska. Josh Heupel will take over the duties in Orlando next season. Auburn’s head coach Gus Malzahn will return after signing an extension and will want to erase two consecutive losses in Atlanta.
