The district view of the Major League Baseball trade deadline becomes more and more clear as it comes closer, and two of the biggest sellers have been playing this weekend in the Bronx.

Yankees Making Move, Cooling Off:

The New Yankees made a good haul this past week, shipping off relief pitcher Aroldis Chapman, in return for top prospects shortstop Gleyber Torres and outfielder Billy McKinney from the Chicago Cubs. Who here joined by pitcher Adam Warren, who originally went over to the Cubbies in the Starlin Castro trade, and outfielder Rashad Crawford. Torres, age 19, from Caracas Venezuela, was seen by most as the Cubs No. 1 prospect.

Andrew Miller, who is thought by many to be the best closer in the game right now, to the Cleveland Indians, for a four-player package of Minor League prospects. Outfielder Clint Frazier and pitcher Justus Sheffield being two headliners, and Minor League pitchers J.P. Feyereisen and Ben Heller being the other two joining them in New York. Future arms and trade current for ready arms and productive players, the signs of a franchise in rebuilding or in Tampa Bay.

Although Chapman was their arguably their best arm out of the bullpen, his expiring contract was more valuable in a trade than his presents in a Yankees uniform at this point. Carlos Beltran is now in a similar situation as the Yankees has been shopping for a while, with no takers. According to sources in baseball, the Yankee’s asking price for Beltran is much higher than anyone is willing so pay right now. The Pinstripes will have some trade value for Beltran after the season is over but the leverage will not be as great as it is right now.

Pitcher Ivon Nova has drawn interest, but things seem to be cooling as far deals that may happen, though the Yanks will take is all the way down to the wire.
