A fight that many boxing fans were waiting for has been placed in serious jeopardy as heavyweight contender Luis Ortiz has tested positive for two illegal substances by the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA).

On September 22nd, Ortiz conducted a test for VADA to check if he was clean. On September 28th, the results came back showing that Ortiz tested positive for chlorothiazide and hydrochlorothiazide. These diuretics are often used to treat high blood pressure, but also can be used as masking agents for performance-enhancing drug use.

With the fact that Ortiz has been caught with illegal substances before (steroids were found in his system after his bout with Lateef Kayode), it is highly likely that he will not be able to compete in the bout against Wilder on November 4th.
An official decision by the World Boxing Council in reference to this bout will be made in the near future.
