The Chicago Cubs have agreed to acquire left-handed pitcher Aroldis Chapman from the New York Yankees, in return for four player prospects, according to multiple sources.

In the package, the Cubs are sending top prospect shortstop Gleyber Torres, who is the No. 24 overall prospect by MLB Pipeline. Torres has made an impact at Class A Myrtle Beach, batting .275 and hitting nine home runs over 94 games. Scout thinks that he may eventually move to playing second or third base.

Former shortstop turned outfielder, Billy McKinney will be joining Torres. The 21-year-old is batting .252 with a single homer, 12 doubles, and three triples to his credit over 88 games at Double-A Tennessee. McKinney was brought over to the Cubs in a 2014 trade that involved Jeff Samardzija and Jason Hammel from the Oakland A’s. Many see this No. 75 overall prospect and former first-round draft pick, as a Major League left fielder in the near future.

Right-hander Adam Warren will return to New York where he started his career before being acquired by the Cubs in the Starlin Castro trade deal. Warren who has most recently been a swingman in Triple-A Iowa, has a 3-2 record in 29 appearances and one start, with a 5.91 ERA.

Lastly, joining the group is outfielder Rashad Crawford, who has been batting .255 with eight triples, and 3 homers for Myrtle Beach. He was the Cubbies 11th round draft pick in 2012, and will be a developmental player.

The Yankees picked up Chapman this past offseason from the Cincinnati Reds in return for four Major Leaguers. In Chapman’s 31 appearances he as posted 20 saves, a 2.01 ERA and a 3-0 record. He has struck out 44 batters in 31 1/3 innings pitched and has lived up to what most expected from him, despite being suspended for the first 30 games of the season due to Major League Baseball’s domestic violence policy.

The Cubs are hoping to sign Chapman to a contract extension before he hits free agency this season. This will be something they will most likely discuss with him before finalizing the deal with the Yankees.
