Is the Kaep Blown Off or Do People Even Notice What’s Inside

Taking a hand, or rather a seat in silent protest has caused a lot of noise in the media and chatter around the country. People from all demographics are weighing on what San Fransisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick protest means to them.

Communication is a wonderful thing and is the single things that can cause nations to fall and love to spark. Without communication, it is safe to say we are going at it alone. It has always been interesting to me how someone can say or do something and different people could consume and decode that communication is such very different, some opposite, ways. This phenomenon, known as interpretation has been a monkey on the back of society since the beginning. We are seeing play out this election year, in a similar John F. Kennedy ran for office in the late 1950’s. Some of the similar conversation is also being discussed.

Now, the massive reaction from the media to a professional football player that has played marginally over the few season some just how reactive they can be. The native from the media has seemed to shift in degrees from network to network, but they seem to be illustrating that Keapernick has done something egregious. I talk about this topic on my radio show Tuesday evening, and most of what I seem to hear and read is about is how this silent protest was disrespectful and unpatriotic.

This is what Kaepernick said in an exclusive interview with Steve Wyche of the NFL Network:

“I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses Black people and people of color. To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder.”

My concern is, what is the plan and how does this young man foresee the outcome of his actions? Does he feel that his silent protest will more people to act? Will there be resolve for the issue he see at hand?
